Forest Site Classification

Forest site type complex (FSTC) is a basic unit, which involves similar elementary units (Forest site type) according to ecological affinity, according to their phytosociological similarity undergrowth and site conditions. FSTC represent complex of a natural forest ecosystems and all managed forests with same ecological conditions. FSTC are mapping units in the reconstruction maps.

The application of Forest site type classification system carried out by staff of the Institute of Forest Management in Brandýs nad Labem. They carry out the classification of forest land In the field, designated for forestry, as well as carrying out field monitoring of forest environment on the forest site permanent plots. In the field they collect data using phytocenological relevés and soil sampling.Data are updated annually.
