The Map of the Czech Republic 1 : 500,000 (MCR 500) is part of the fundamental state map series and it is designed as a general geographical map. It depicts whole area of the Czech Republic in one map sheet. MCR 500 contains planimetry, height points, geographical grid, map lettering and map legend. The subject of the planimetry are settlements, road network covering motorways, expressways and 1st class roads, hydrography, borders (state and region), cover and surface. Elevation proportions are represented by height points and shaded terrain relief. The map lettering comprises of standardised names, spot heights (information about the elevation), map title and map scale with map imprint and figures of a scale bar, text part of the map legend and frame data and geographic coordinates. The geographical grid is divided by 1°. The data file is provided in TIFF data format with TFW spatial referencing files for S-JTSK and ETRS89-TM33N coordinate reference systems. In addition, the data is also provided in PDF format.
MČR 500 is conceived as an overview general geographic map. It displays the whole territory of the Czech Republic in one map sheet. It is used, among others, as a navigation layer in web map applications.

MCR 500 was created in the environment of ArcGIS Desktop with use of Fundamental Base of Geographic Data of the Czech Republic (ZABAGED), database of geographical names of the Czech Republic (Geonames) and EuroRegionalMap (ERM) data. Production and update of the MCR 500 is ensured by Land Survey Office.
