INSPIRE WFS download service for the theme Geographical Names (GN)
The INSPIRE WFS Download Service for the Geographical Names (GN) theme is a service that allows users to repeatedly download data using WFS 2.0.0 technology. The download service provides harmonised data for the INSPIRE Geographical Names (GN) theme corresponding to the INSPIRE XML schema version 4.0. Data are provided in GML 3.2.1 format and in the ETRS89/TM33 coordinate system designated for INSPIRE for displaying large-scale datasets. This dataset of geographical names of the Czech Republic therefore has a unified structure with other data created for this INSPIRE theme across Europe. The basis of the dataset is the Geonames database of geographical names of the Czech Republic, supplemented with names of features located in the Fundamental Base of Geographic Data of the Czech Republic (ZABAGED®) that are not part of Geonames (street and square names, traffic nodes and protected areas). The service complies with the Technical Guidance for the Implementation of INSPIRE Download Services, version 3.1, and also with the OGC Standard for WFS 2.0.0.

Service was created on the the Directive on construction of spatial data infrastructure in the European Community (INSPIRE), which is valid from 15 May 2007. Into national legislation in the Czech Republic, the Directive was transposed by the Act No. 380/2009 Coll., amending Act No. 123/1998 Coll., establishing the right to information on the environment, as subsequently amended, and Act No. 200/1994 Coll., on surveying and amending and supplementing certain acts related to its introduction, as amended. Full transposition was supplemented by Decree No. 103/2010 Coll., implementing certain provisions of the Act to provide environmental information.
