Základní topografická mapa České republiky 1 : 10 000 v S-JTSK

The Base Topographic Map of the Czech Republic 1:10 000 in the plane coordinate system of the Cadastral Trigonometric Network (S-JTSK), hereinafter referred to as ZTM 10/S-JTSK, is a fundamental national map series. ZTM 10/S-JTSK replaces the Base Map of the Czech Republic 1:10 000 (ZM 10) from 1 July 2023. ZTM 10/S-JTSK covers the entire territory of the Czech Republic in a continuous map layout; the territory of the Czech Republic is shown on 4 194 map sheets. The sheet lines of the layout (inner frames) of the ZTM/S-JTSK map sheets form rectangles whose sides are parallel to the S-JTSK coordinate axes and are 500 mm long in the direction of the Y axis and 400 mm long in the direction of the X axis at the scale of the respective map. A ZTM 10/S-JTSK map sheet thus covers an area of 5.0 km × 4.0 km. The dimensions do not include the accompanying elements shown on the printed version of the map sheet (i.e. the boundary band and frame and non-frame data). The dimensions of the printed map including all frame and non-frame data are 480 mm × 770 mm. ZTM 10/S-JTSK map sheets are identified by a nomenclature of alphanumeric character, which specifies the position of the ZTM 10/S-JTSK map sheet within the map sheet of the smaller scale from which it is derived. The map sheets are further supplemented by a map sheet name, which is generally identical to the name of the largest settlement on the given map sheet; in the case of ZTM 5/S-JTSK, ZTM 10/S-JTSK and ZTM 25/S-JTSK this is the name of the corresponding ZTM 50/S-JTSK map sheet. If no settlement is found on a map sheet, another unique geographical name (peak, watercourse, land tract) from that map sheet is used. ZTM 10/S-JTSK map sheets are created by dividing a ZTM 50/S-JTSK map sheet into 25 map sheets using 5 rows and 5 columns, numbered consecutively within the ZTM 50/S-JTSK map sheet in rows from the north-west corner as 01 to 25. An example of a map sheet designation is Žďár nad Sázavou 0506-D-17. ZTM 10/S-JTSK contains planimetry, altimetry and descriptions. The planimetry includes settlements and individual objects, roads, hydrography, boundaries of administrative units and cadastre units, boundaries of protected areas, geodetic control and gravity points, vegetation and land surface. The altimetry includes terrain relief shown by contour lines with a basic contour interval of 2 metres, terrain steps, rock features, gullies, landslides or scree, isolated rocks and boulders, groups and rows of stones and points with given elevation including their altitude. The map description consists of standardised geographical nomenclature, names of municipalities and parts of municipalities, feature type designations, names of streets and public spaces, altitudes and point numbers of geodetic control points, contour line elevations and points with given elevation, names of protected areas. The printed map sheets also contain the S-JTSK and ETRS89-TMzn one-kilometre map grid and the ETRS89 geographical grid, a map frame with frame data (e.g. directional data for selected roads, names of settlements divided between cadastre units, descriptions of neighbouring states, coordinates) and non-frame data (e.g. map legend, imprint data, graphical, numerical and slope diagram, interpolation scale of the ETRS89 geographical grid, graphical representation of the map in the map layout, expression of meridian convergence and magnetic declination, graphical representations of the overview of administrative and cadastral boundaries and boundaries of protected areas, etc.). Only features occurring within the territory of the Czech Republic are shown. When displaying planimetry in ZTM 10, methods of cartographic generalization are applied to ensure graphical clarity — census choice of map elements and normative choice of map elements (omission of elements based on quantitative and qualitative parameters and further reduction of the number of elements where applicable) and geometrical generalization (displacement, simplification of shapes), cartographic displacement or enlargement of small dimensions. The level of generalization of planimetry in ZTM 10 is such that no extensive merging of individual buildings into blocks occurs. The map thus provides a very detailed picture of the depicted area.

ZTM 10 belongs to the national map series at medium scales. These maps are topographical in character and contain planimetry, altimetry, and map lettering. The digital form of the medium-scale national map series benefits from uniform processing for the entire territory of the Czech Republic and is used in geographical information systems, map portals, and web applications. Given the level of detail and low degree of generalisation, ZTM 10 is particularly suitable for agendas in the field of detailed spatial planning and design and for construction design activities of a local character.

Kvalita

The Base Topographic Map of the Czech Republic 1:10 000 in S-JTSK (ZTM 10/S-JTSK) replaces the Base Map of the Czech Republic 1:10 000 (ZM 10). ZTM 10/S-JTSK is produced from the Fundamental Base of Geographic Data of the Czech Republic (ZABAGED®) and the Database of Geographical Names of the Czech Republic (Geonames). The data are processed in the Data10 cartographic database of the IS SMD technology line. PDF print files (CMYK) with the complete content of each map sheet are generated from it and then printed on demand.
