Statistical units, harmonized in accordance with INSPIRE
Statistical districts shall mean the smallest territorial units, which form cadastral territories, and basic settlement units, whose network covers the whole territory of the Czech Republic, that are used for detailed description of territories and establishment of statistical zones (Act No 89/1995 Sb on the State Statistical Service, as amended, § 2). The statistical unit boundaries are derived from the boundaries of basic settlement units and cadastral districts, are ideally composed into the boundaries of basic settlement units and run together with proprietary boundaries, communications' axises and other line elements, natural elements included.
In 1999 - 2000 manual vectorization against a background of cadastral maps at every scale (decimal, fathom, inset) and of every form (raster, vector). The vector boundaries of cadastral districts from the ZABAGED 1 project (Basic map of the Czech Republic 1 : 10 000) and the revised boundaries of basic settlement units (vectorial processed as well - map precision 1 : 10 000) were used as the initial drawing.
